Comments: At this moment my plate is so full of happiness. I have to share. I sat down to my computer today with the idea that I would check my bookmarks and discard all the old and outdated URL's. So I was happily looking and throwing, and I came across a bookmark that I had marked a few months ago. It had been rather primative at the time. Today when I looked, it was obvious that a LOT of work had been done on the site. This is the site you may want to go to, especially if you are a veteran. http://www.veteransearch.com/ This is a site that is attempting to put all veterans in touch with each other. They have a searchable index, and the Webmanagers have access to a many millions of veterans database. They have begun accepting memberships, $19.95, for a lifetime membership. I plodded around the site for quite a while. I found my old ships, and was able to post to one of my old shipmates. No answers yet. Finally, about 5:00 P.M. PDT I made the decision to join the group. They took me through the sign up process, and then I was allowed inside. I found the guest book, and posted a message. I asked about my best friend. 2 HOURS, AND 25 MINUTES later, I received a call from the Web manager, Jack,. In my post I had asked for information on my best friend while I was abroad the U.S.S. PITTSBURG., Norman K. Hughes. I had not seen, nor heard from him for 44 years, almost 45. Jack, the list manager, called me with the wonderful news that he had just spoken with Norman K. Hughes, my best buddy. Yes he was, THE, Norman K. Hughes, yes, he did know me well, and here are both his work, and home phone numbers. Incredible, two hours and 25 minutes. Norm and I have hoisted more than a few, and spent endless hours talking. We mostly stood our watchs together. He lives somewhere in Kentucky, since it was 10:30 P.M. there, I didn't think that he wanted to reminisce when he has to get up and go to work in the morning. But you can bet that I will be up early in the morning, calling that work number. Geez, the flood of memories that came with that phone call from Jack. So if you have been wondering about an old buddy from the service, you just might find him, or her, at this site. My $19.95 investment has already returned to me tenfold just in memories. I'll talk to Norman in the morning. Thanks for letting me share with you. My heart is over flowing.

Comments: I am looking for Ron and Camille Owen; John and Karen Greenway; and Pete and Patty Parsons. My first husband was in the USAF Security Service and was assigned to the 6931st at Iraklion, Crete from the summer or fall of 1963 to Dec. of 1965. While we were there, we made friends with Ron & Camille. Our first babies where born while we were there. From there we all went to Kelly AFB in San Antonio. That was between Dec. '65 and Aug. '67. We stayed in touch for a few years and then lost contact. The last I knew, Ron was an accountant for an oil company. He is originally from Texas and I believe the town is Nocadochas (sp). They went to Saudi Arabia for this oil company. I found all this out from an operator that I talked one time when I was trying to locate them via the phone. The operator knew Camille, as she had worked as an operator. I don't know the name of the oil company. Camille was from the Philippines and that is where she met Ron. He was stationed there. While in Crete, we lived across the street from each other. If anyone has information about these old friends, have them contact me at mikie@ptd.net or 717-664-3005. My name at the time was Mikie Meek and my husband's name is Doug Meek. Doug and I talk all the time about ways to find them and I keep trying. My fingers are crossed. These men were all stationed with Doug from boot camp through when we were all at Kelly. There was a whole group of us that went from one assignment to another, together. There are others who were also at the 6931st, that we remember, but have forgotten their names. If anyone sees this and was amoung this group, please contact me at the above e-mail or phone. Karen Greenway and I traveled on an ocean liner together to go to Crete to be with our husbands. The Greenways were from Indiana and John went to Notre Dame after getting out of the service, I believe to be an accountant. John was the best man at our wedding. The Parson's were from West Palm Beach, Florida. I hope all this information will spark a memory in someone. Thank you, Carole (Mikie Meek ) Henry

Comments: I am doing a genealogy research for my family, and am trying to locate information about my uncle, John Patrick McGivney from New Haven Connecticut, who was killed in action in the South Pacific - August 1944. He was a Coxswain in the USNR and I am told was buried on the Canton Islands (?). Rumor has it, and we all know how that goes, that he served on a PT boat. I would appreciate any information. I can't even seem to find the Canton Islands let alone a cemetery! Thanks for any help! Diane Parrish

Comments: I'am looking for old buddies or anyone that can help me in my search. I was in Vietnam from July of 67 to May of 68. I was first assigned to Co.B 2/1 196th Lt. Inf. Bde. until I was wounded the night of Sept.19 and the morning of the 20th, 67 when the night time ambush I was with instead was ambushed and our positions were overran and everyone was either wounded or KIA it was a terrible night and still to this day I still have nightmares of that night. After I recovered from my wounds I was then transfered to the 199th Lt. Inf. Bde. were I first served with Bde. Headquarters Rifle Platoon until after the Tet Offensive and what a experience that was you would of had to be there to believe it it's to hard to put into words it would take me hours to tell that story. However after the Tet I was transfered to Co.A 4/12Th 199th until I was wounded for the second time, more seriuosly on May 30th on my 19th birthday by getting hit twice by a AK50 once in the right shoulder and the second bullet hitting me in the chest where to this day I still have the bullet lodged in my chest as to remove it was to dangerous.so on that day in May I recieved my second Purple Heart and I also recieved the Bronze star with V Device for Heroism for taking out a VC bunker and I was on my way in taking out the second one when I got wounded.after getting airlifted to the field hospital I was neverto return to my unit losing all contact with my buddies and never to know what happen to my unit that day or the follwing days after being wounded so after thirty years I'am looking for old buddies or anyone that can help me out in my search for friends and for what ever happen to my unit. I thank anyone who took the time to read this message and would welcome or would appreciate anyone that can help me out. THANKYOU One of many DISABLED VETS, JERRY BURGER 2642 QUICKSILVER DR. Comments: A Brother is putting together some history of 9th Infantry Division 5/60 (Mech) in Vietnam. He fought at the Y-Bridge in May 1968. We met via the net as a result of research to locate whoever was with some trucks and tracks about 20 clicks south of Saigon and about the same distance east on Tan An on 18 August 1968. The crew of an M113 had a Confederate Flag and a brassiere flying from their radio antenna. Evidence suggests they may have been from B/5/60 as A Co. and C Co. seem to have been elsewhere on security that day guarding bridges. A, B, C companies of 2-60 Infantry were inserted to the north or north east of where this group was stopped, and may have been supported by the APCs during the afternoon or early in the evening. On that particular day, they spoke to an Aussie pilot who got up on a vehicle to take some photos. The Aussie was a FAC pilot but on this occasion he was acting as an Air Liaison Officer (ALO) aboard a three-man Hillier OH-23 "Raven" C&C chopper - apparently called an Anteater because of its shape. There are two Hilliers in a photo the Aussie took, plus a number of airborne Hueys and other army trucks in the background. The trucks and tracks were apparently on a roadway, while choppers and the other 3/4 ton (?) trucks were in long grass almost waist high. The Aussie was wearing a distinctive flying suit that was lighter green than those worn by American aircrew. One of his photos shows the flag and bra! Col Benson, Down Under,
