Comments: Absolutely incredible
job! Just when you think most of these internet people finder sites are dishonest and do nothing but
bilk people out of their money, along comes this site. I have been looking for one of my best
friends and shipmates for nearly 10 years, lo' and behold, after posting my request here, in only 3
days time, I have been put in contact him and I couldn't be happier. What a great service and I am
truly appreciative of your efforts.
You sold me and I will become a
life long member.

I have been looking for a search engine that would be
able to fine a few of my shipmates. Last night I came across American Veteran Search and submitted a name
of a shipmate that I haven't seen or heard from since 1973. This morning, I received a phone call from the
shipmate I was looking for. Its like finding a family member. It sure made my day. You all should try it. It
worked for me.

Thank you Jack and Rich for all of your help. Just as I was going to give up after ten years of searching for
their families you guys came through like a Miracle. Thanks to you guys its helped me a lot to deal with the
guilt of living. Now I have an extended family that I will never forget.
In 1991 I lost two of my brothers in arms. The event affected me for years and affected the way I carried on with my family and peers. My brothers were more than soldiers to me, they were my shadow, my strength and courage. We looked after each other day and night. We had this bond that you wouldn't have to say anything and you already knew what the other man was thinking. For nine months we took care of each other hoping and knowing that we would all go home together, alive.
The night before the ground war started we all got together and talked about our lives and what we were going to do when we returned. The one thing that hurts me the most is not bringing them soldiers my brothers back to their families. I remember the night before we went into Iraq, this specific conversation. I told my brothers that it was my job to make sure they got home safely to their families, that I would be the one to take the bullet for them, without them skipping a beat or a breath they said, " brother your wife is pregnant and is about to have a baby, we will make sure you get back to see that baby and be with your wife." The ironic thing of it all is that my brothers took most of the shrapnel from the grenade, I was standing in the middle of them and I don't understand how I lived and they died. The radius of the grenade should of taken me out as well.
I have carried that guilt with me for years and still do, but one thing that has helped me out some was meeting the families of my brothers. Sharing the good memories that we had for those nine months, while their families worried and wondered about them. I showed them pictures and told them stories about all of us, how we were brothers, like if we all came from the same mother. I still think of them on a daily basis, at times I want to scream out and cry, but I hold it all inside. I miss my brothers more than I can explain, the laughs, jokes, the listening to each other, our dreams. I made a promise that I would visit their grave sites every year on the anniversary when our lives changed forever. I will never forget them and will always keep them in my heart and mind.
Sincerely,
Victor D. Segui

Comments: Thank you again. You guys are great. You found 4 out of the six I sent you.
If you get anything on the other two, let me know but 4 out of 6 is great. I'll probably send a few more names
after I have spoken to Fritz, et al. I have been trying to find Fritz for about 3 years. On 1-5-03 R.J. and myself made contact
after 31 years. We served together in the Azores. Your people were able to find Cully for me in approximately
24 hours. I had been trying to find him for 2 years. AVS is
Fantastic. I can't wait to see who they are going to find for me next. I still have a couple of other people to contact from
my first list but I'll be sending more names soon. Both Cully and I thank you from the bottoms of our old
swabbie hearts. Joe and Gail Lawlor

Comments: Dear Jack Well I don't know where to begin. I was
almost in tears when I got the message that you found Harold for me. You just have no way of knowing how
happy I am sitting here tonight after getting off the phone to someone whom I thought I'd never find. The best part is you did it
in ONE day and here I've been looking for7 months day and night. How Can I begin to thank you. What a
wonderful thing you are doing for all of us out there looking for that someone special. Harold and I will be getting together very soon and I'll be
sure to let every one know who it was that did this for me. Your efforts made one old Vet and one
daughter of a Vet very very happy tonight.

Comments: "For years, I have often wondered about some of my
former USMC buddies; you know; we were all going to "keep in touch" with each other. But everyone got so
busy getting back to civilian life (Thank God!). Recently my wife, Marthajane (Janie) found this
Absolutely Wonderful Website designed for Vets only! After only a few contacts, last Veteran's Day,
Bob, a former pal, was on the phone with the help of Jack Gentile! How great it was to learn about his
life since 1946! But sad to hear his health is not the best these days. Then just this past week we posted another
inquiry about Howard ("Howie) Schmidt. Sure enough, that same night Jack was on the phone again with Howie!
It's Remarkable how this site works; as we had checked
the usual "People Search" sites on the internet and Never Got Anywhere!
If you are looking for a former buddy, all you need is to contact this site! It is really a thrill to reconnect with
these former buddies! Makes it all seem worthwhile -- (World War 2) ... and those who were in the services
after that war too! Thanks to Jack and the entire crew at VeteranSearch.com!

Comments: I spent twelve years in the
Navy from 1974-1986,and one of my dearest
friends was in Pensacola Florida with me from 1979-81. He went back to sea
duty about two weeks ahead of me, and like so many times we say
"We will keep
in touch", And like so many times you never do.
Well I have done a lot of genealogy research and considered myself pretty
darn good at digging up people.
But ole crafty Mountain Man Mike Davis from WVA, slipped thru somehow.
By accident about two weeks ago I found AVS, joined and before my membership
receipt was cold I punched in all I knew on Mike.
Two days later he was found, they had a phone number for him and his dad. Mike
slips out again, missed him by a day or two, he was headed to Florida.
Last Saturday thinking he would be back by then, I call and had to leave a
message, real simple one.
"Mike, this is John Dickey, call me," and left my number.
Well this past Friday nite (July 2nd), the phone rings, I answer, and as soon
as he opened his mouth, I knew who it was. We carried on for over an hour.
We're headed to WVA the end of this month if it all works out on my end.
Thanks A Bunch Guys
Bravo Zulu
John Dickey
